Lucky Star 24 (Final)

Iikagen ni shinasai!

It’s one last hurrah for choco cornets, Haruhi references, and everyday hilarity. The final episode of Lucky Star definitely delivers - not too sincere but not too irreverent. Just right.
.
And for once, the answer to the question “is this a dancing animu?” is actually YES.
Amazing.

I think this right here is pretty much representative of the average otaku’s attitude toward Japan.
It’s also pretty representative of Patty-chan in general. :3
Man, where was all this great stuff way back at the beginning of the series?
Patty’s voice continues to be one of the most entertaining elements of the show. It’s really a shame that she wasn’t included earlier in the series.
Her discussion bribery with Konata was hilarious. Now admittedly, being able to see Aya Hirano is a tempting offer, but I don’t think I’d dance in a cheerleader outfit to obtain tickets.
…
I…don’t even have a funny comeback for that. Um, do not want?
Moving right along…

Wait, did we just enter some kind of space-time warp? Let me me see if I can get this straight…Konata, who is played by Hirano Aya, is thrilled about meeting herself in person…and that “self “is playing the role of Haruhi…who is also voiced by Hirano Aya.
Holy crap Doc…we should probably get the DeLorean up to 88 miles an hour, or something to that effect. Man. Wheels within wheels.
Anime sure is deep sometimes lol.

Kagami is no match for Konata’s crocodile tears! T_T

Muzukashii Nippongo wakaranai!
Ahaha, the classic gaijin cop-out once again! Unfortunately for Patty-chan, much like Hei she forgot that it doesn’t work if people already know you can speak the language.

Just look at the expression on Soujirou’s face! At the very mention of the word “cheerleader” he perks up like a jubilant child on Christmas morning. I would’ve loved to see him actually taking photos at the festival though, since that provided many a chuckle during the sports festival episode.
Also, notice how he had his camera instantly at the ready. Probably carries it with him everywhere he goes. :3

Misao FTW! Fang power at its best.
Well ok, maybe not quite the best, but still pretty dang good.

Konata’s costume was quite amusing. Yes I’m aware we have a KyoAni series character making reference to another KyoAni character - that’s what makes it funny.
.
We all knew it was coming. KyoAni just couldn’t resist the urge to plug Haruhi that one last time.

Despite her earlier complaints about not being able to understand complicated Nippongo, Patty gives a quintessentially Japanese pep-talk - very humble, positive attitude, and with affirmation of everyone’s importance to the project.

Can’t forget that one last product placement opportunity! Next up the cast enjoys a Stuft Crust XL Supreme Pizza with a side of Spicy Asian flavored WingStreet® Wings from Pizza Hut to relax after their performance!

All right, who on God’s green earth would ever have a recording of themselves singing an anime theme song as their ring tone? Wait…on second thought, you know this probably applies to a lot of people actually…
.
Hey, I thought it was kind of cool! Of course, only Shiraishi could pull off a stunt like that.
.
I loved the dance sequence, not because I’m an immense fan of “dancing animu”, but simply because the animation is so crisp and the cinematography is so top notch. The same goes for the God Knows performance in Haruhi; it’s just a well-animated, innovative, and entertaining sequence.

The moment when Kagami and the rest of the gang realize that they are leaving the school forever was well played. Touching, but not overly patronizing, like I said before - just right.
I was a bit dismayed we didn’t get one last row between Shiraishi and Akira on Lucky Channel, but oh well. Overall the episode was very lighthearted and offered a good closure to what I believe was an immensely enjoyable series.

I liked Patty’s attitude towards Japanese people, expecting everyone to be otaku lol. It is funny how Konata is actually Aya and wants to meet herself. It was a good ending, though I hoped for a graduation ceremony. FANG POWER ^^.
I will definitely miss Lucky Star now that it has reached its ending…
More Haruhi Suzumiya references, more quirks from our lovable characters, the sweet revenge from Shiraishi, Aya Hirano’s self reference and finally a dance that was featured on every episode, which finally makes sense in this final part.
I sincerely hope there will be some second season, but who knows now.
Goodbye Lucky Star, it was some great ride in your company!
guuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
