Anyway, here’s the lyrics for the TV size version of Dango Daikazoku, sung by Chata. The translation is something I just threw together on a whim, so it’s not the greatest…

Gathers up everything, both happy and sad
Dango is a type of dumpling, similar to mochi. Yaki-dango means grilled dango, and an-dango is dango filled with red bean paste.
As for the thing about the rabbit - when the Japanese look up at the moon, they don’t see a man in the moon; they see a rabbit. The rabbit is busy making mochi, thus the significance in a song about dango, as well as the moon.

For once, I enjoy the ED of a Key/KyoAni series versus the OP. I loved Air’s and Kanon’s OP but didn’t like their ED’s. This time around, for Clannad, I love the ED and the OP is just so-so.
Though like you said the OP animation is cookie-cutter yet so pretty -3-

Yup, never fails to bring a smile to my face!
When I say it’s cookie-cutter, I mean that it sounds pretty much exactly like 90% of the other renai game theme songs out there. They all have that same kind of feel to them, with a few notable exceptions.
It’s not a bad song, it’s just very generic.

Eeeee! I’m SO in love with Dango Daikazoku! Do you have a hi-res copy of the creditless video of it?! I would love you forever and ever and ever if you’d be so kind as to send me a copy or tell me where I could find it! I’m having lots of fun watching Clannad, but by far the best part is the Dango ending! I just had a really awful day spent at yet another doctor’s office, yet dango cheered me right up! (I certainly relate to Nagisa-san with the weak body thing!) But those Dangos are just so dang cute, they always make me smile.
This song moves me so much… But the feeling is rather melancholic. Pretty much like Aria’s OP “Undine”. It’s an happy song, but strangely it makes me feel a bit depressed.

omg, Dango Daikazoku is too cute for words. it is a happy song but it makes me cry slightly as it sounds quite sad
