I loved your analysis... it's almost better than the show!
but some things in Kaiji are a bit too obvious and they waste time by explaining it.

Mainly because, for whatever reason, those two series are unusually popular on 4chan. Perhaps it's because they empathize with Kaiji's bum lifestyle. :P

It'was a pretty good episode even if i prefer the next one.
I really want to know why they are so many joke about 4chan when we talk about Kaiji and Akagi . I'm very curious !

Still loving Kaiji so far through episode 6 but there's one thing that worries me: Kaiji seems to be coming down with a case of "Shonen Hero" in that, after an initial period, everything he does seems to be coming up aces. (er, "just as planned")

Yeah, there have been setbacks - especially at the end of 6 - but seeing him draw up a new complex strategy quickly that works near perfectly in execution about every time makes me wonder just how he got so broke in the first place. Maybe, like you said before (I believe), he works better with his back to the wall.

But perhaps I'm grasping at straws for things to say about Kaiji other than "it is really awesome." Or maybe I'm feeling stupid for not seeing the strategy before. XD

The mark of a good show: you respond appropriately and loudly at every moment you are supposed to.

The appropriate reaction to an episode of Kaiji: Evil laughter as you figure out Kaiji's plans and watch them come into effect.

Oh yes. I laughed loudly and evilly during this ep.

Kaiji is awesome. ^^
