It's just over-the-top fun for its own sake - Gurren Lagann is the pure essence of 'Huerrgh!' painted in letters ten planets high, in seven shades of win. It also marks Gainax's return to form...at last! It also makes bloggers rave in over-enthusiastic, hyperbolic fanboy mode afterwards...how many shows elicit such an overwhelming reaction?
