While School Days was undoubtedly the most talked about show among the summer anime this year, Potemayo was the real sleeper hit, in my opinion.

The sheer silliness of the concept and the slapstick humor made it surprisingly enjoyable, as well as giving it lots of replay value.

I didn’t initially bother to watch the series when it first aired. I was finally convinced, however, when I stumbled across an episode summary that included some screenshots of Guchuko scything Moriyama’s front door in half, only to carefully tape it back together again before leaving. As we begin the month of December, the time for celebrating the joyous Christmas season and the end of the year, it seems only fitting that we also take a moment to celebrate some of those memorable anime moments from throughout the year – moments of laughter, moments of tears, moments of shock and awe, and above all moments of pure, unadulterated epic win.
